Rajya Sabha discusses radiation exposure

Rajya Sabha discussed the radiation exposure incident in Mayapuri scrap market in the city in which eight persons were scalded.

A Calling Attention motion given by Kalraj Mishra (BJP), D Raja (CPI) and Mahendra Mohan (SP) on the issue has been admitted in the Rajya Sabha and is listed for discussion.

The House discussed the situation arising out of the incidents of radiation exposure detected in a scrap market in Delhi and Government's reaction thereto.

Eight persons were injured due to exposure to radioactive substance Co-60 in Mayapuri. The incident came to light on April nine.

Nuclear scientists isolated 11 sources of radiation over a period of seven days before declaring the area safe on Saturday.
